2006 North American Missions Emphasis
Week of Prayer for North American Missions is March 5-12, 2006. The
North American Missions Study theme for 2006 is "Tell His Story" Each
year we take an offering "Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American
Missions" This offering is taken the entire month in which Easter falls.
The National goal this year is $56 million. Our local goal has not been set
yet. Since the offering's inception more than $1 billion has been received
by the North American Mission Board to use in reaching people in North
America for Christ. |
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering...
Each year, we honor the life and work of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938)
when we give to the annual offering for home missions named after her. As a
tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission
effort through the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission
endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union,
for which she served as the first corresponding secretary. |
2006 Emphasis on State Missions...
Dates of Week of Prayer for State Missions or Offering goal is not available

Each year, during the month of September, we take an offering "Eliza Broadus
Offering for State Missions". This offering funds Kentucky Baptist
Convention State Missions and Evangelism. |
The Eliza of the Offering
Eliza Somerville Broadus was born in Charlottesville, Virginina in 1851. In
1913 Miss Broadus led Kentucky WMU to promote the taking of an annual
offering for state missions in all the churches. On October 1, 1931, she was
struck by a truck one block from her home and instantly killed. |

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International
Missions is promoted during the Week of Prayer for International Missions
and throughout the month of December.
Each year, during the month December, we take an offering "Lottie Moon
Christmas Offering for International Missions." Lottie Moon was
a heroine for today - a woman passionate about a lost world, a woman who
didn't hesitate to speak her mind. For 39 years she labored, chiefly in
Tengchow and P'ingto China and didn't just serve the people of China; she
identified with them. Lottie Moon, December 12, 1840-December 24,1912. |
